You've build a world and now it needs a face

We all know the grid paper where we sketch continents, cities, and dungeons. With pen or pencil, sometimes even in color. Islands as ovals, mountains as triangles, neighborhoods as nameless polygons behind the palisades.
It has charm. It’s old school. But sometimes… it’s not enough.
Not enough to satisfy the urge to put our creative thoughts on paper. Not enough to truly pull our imagination into the world we’ve built.
When I started drawing fantasy maps and battle maps, I often asked myself why I’d go through the trouble of presenting more than the bare minimum. My personal answer is this: I love to convey atmosphere and mood.
More than a piece of grid paper could ever hold.
